A.V.Fedotov
(1932 - 1984)

A.V.Fedotov     Fedotov Alexander Vasilievich - Soviet Union Hero (22.07.1966), Honored test-pilot of USSR (21.02.1969), major-general of aviation (1983), Honored coach of USSR (1976), International master-coach (1975).
   Born in Volgograd city. Graduated from Air Force special School in Volgograd. Since 1950 served in Army. In 1952 graduated from Military aviation pilot school in Armavir. Was appointed there as pilot-instructor (till 1957). In 1958 graduated from Test pilot school, in 1965 graduated from Moscow Aviation Institute (MAI).
   Since 1958 worked as test-pilot at A.I.Mikoyan EDB.
   Tested a number of prototype supersonic aeroplanes including MiG-21, MiG-23, MiG-25, MiG-27, MiG-29, MiG-31. Set eighteen world aviation records (three of them are absolute).
   Died in test flight on MiG-31.
   Test Pilot School is named after A.Fedotov.
   Awarded with Lenin premium (1981), with two Lenin orders, Orders of Red Banner, Labor Red Banner, medals. Awarded also with Golden Aviation Medal of FAI (1974), three medals de Lavo (FAI) (1961, 1973, 1977).
